Itinerary: Irkutsk - Listvyanka -  Peschanaya bay - Olkhon - Khoboi - Maloe More (' Small Sea ') - Irkutsk

Baikal safari by a hovercraft! This trip will be the brightest and most remarkable! Amazingly beautiful and various Baikal landscapes, crystal ice and the whole ocean of impressions! Paint the coming spring in the lazuli tint of snowy Baikal!

Day 1

Airport pick up in Irkutsk.

Breakfast at the local cafe. Then off for  Irkutsk City tour.

Transfer to Listvyanka - 70 km from Irkutsk along Baikal motorway.

Along the way stop by an Open Air Museum of Wooden Architecture "Taltsy"

Listvyanka, the closest to Irkutsk tourist center is famous for Baikal museum of Limnological institute with its aquariums featuring Baikal fishes and seals. Famous Shaman-rock, wrapped into a wonderful, but rather sad legend, is visible from the observation point of Cherskii stone.

In the local market you have the possibility not only to buy different kinds of souvenirs and hand-made crafts from stone, wood, glass and birch bark made by Siberian artists, but also taste cold and hot smoked Baikal fish - omul, umber and white-fish.

Day 2


Today you will learn more about the Lake during a day tour in Listvyanka

You will climb to Cherskii stone. From the top a beautiful view upon Shaman stone opens up for you.

After lunch you will visit Baikal museum - the only Russian museum devoted to Baikal. Unique lake inhabitants are presented in big aquariums. The water for aquariums comes directly from Baikal.

In the museum you will have a possibility to dive in a virtual bathyscaphe! Then you will have a meeting with seals, the most amazing inhabitants of Baikal. They are unbelievably gracious and cute animals!

Returning to the hotel

Free time. Those who wish can visit Siberian banya (for extra payment)Today starts unique ice trip by hovercraft across the great and the most mysterious lake.

Day 3


08.00 -Transfer to the harbor, embarkation on the hovercraft (locally called "Khivus")

*"Khivus" is a hovercraft able to travel across Baikal ice with the speed up to 70 km/h. It is a safe vehicle.

After that you will have a stop in Peschanaya bay (80 km from Listvyanka). You will visit the rocks Bol'shaya and Malaya Kolokol'nya ('Big and Small Bell tower'), framing the bay. Lunch in the open air not far from Cape Krestovskii; visiting the cliff Sagan-Zaba (160 km from Listvyanka) with ancient petroglyphs.

20.00 arrival to Olkhon - the biggest island of Baikal

Day 4


Today you will visit Cape Burkhan - famous Shaman Rock. After that you will leave for Cape Khoboi.

On the way you can come across Obo-Serge. In Buryat language it means "a pile of stones". It marks the place where one should say his prayer and give his donations to the local spirits. Then your destination will be Cape Sagan-Khushun. It is a very picturesque rocky cape about 1 km long. It is one of the few places in the northern Olkhon where you can descend to the water.

Cape Khoboi is an impressive pillar- shaped rock, resembling a canine tooth. If looked upon from the sea (from the West of East) it looks very much like a woman's head.

Day 5


Getting ready; transfer to the airport or to the railway station

The tour cost includes:

  • Airport or railway station pick-up; transfer Small Sea - Irkutsk; Irkutsk-Listvyanka; transfer to the airport or railway station
  • Transfer by hovercraft "Khivus": Listvyanka - Peschanaya bay - Olkhon
  • Meals within the itinerary: full board
  • Services of a guide within the itinerary;
  • Excursions within the itinerary (Irkutsk city tour, upstream of the Angara River, Shaman stone, virtual diving in Baikal museum, Cherskii stone, Cape Khoboi on Olkhon island);
  • Accommodation: Listvyanka "Krestovaya Pad" x 2 night; Olkhon "Villa Malina" x 1 night; Irkutsk "IBIS" hotel x 1 night.

Not included in the tour cost:

The tour participants should have with them necessary warm clothes for winter expedition and additional gear: a sleeping bag, a down jacket, a cold-proof one-piecer, a fleece jacket, a warm cap, 2 pairs of warm socks and gloves, winter boots, sunglasses, sunscreen cream, a personal torch and a personal medicine kit.

In case of bad weather (strong winds, snow storms, etc.) the company reserves the right to change the itinerary with the prior notice to the tour participants. In this case the company shall provide an adequate in price and quality other type of service.
