* Ulan-Ude is the capital of Buryatia Republic. The city was founded in 1666 as a Cossack winter hut on the right bank of the Selenga River. In 1678 it became known as an "ostrog" (local name for Siberian wooden fort) - outpost within the eastward sweep of Russian Cossacks. Today it is a modern city with the population of 373 000 people.

*«Baikal Plaza»is situated in the very center of the city at the Sovety square, surrounded by the main administrative buildings: the Government and the Parliament of Buryatia and the city hall. In the vicinity you will find banks, head offices of the big enterprises and their representatives, round-the-clock supermarkets and shopping centers.
After that you will go for Ulan-Ude city tour.
Lunch at the restaurant “Yurta” where you can taste national Buryat cuisine.
After lunch you`ll visit Buryat Ethnographical Museum.
*In one of the most picturesque places of Ulan-Ude there is the biggest open-air Ethnographical museum of Baikal peoples. Here you can get acquainted with the lifestyle of the Buryats.
In the museum you will find the historical settlements, which are presented by several expositional complexes - archaeological, Evenk, Buryat, Trans-Baikal and Russian old residents (Cossack).
Dinner at the city restaurant. After the dinner you will visit Ivolginskii datsan.
* Ivolginskii datsan was founded in 1946, at present it houses the residence of the head of the Russian Buddhist church. The datsan, covering the area of 3 hectares, is located at the distance of 30 km from the capital of Buryatia. Ivolginskii datsan keeps the incorruptible body of Dashi Dorzho Itygelov. Up till 1917 he was the leader of the Russian Buddhists. Itygelov died in 1927 in the pose of lotus during meditation and was buried afterwards. According to his will, they opened the sarcophagus with his body in 2002. It appeared that the body was without any decay. The joints were flexible and the skin was firm. By means of infrared spectrophotometry it was discovered that the protein fractions of Khambo Lama have preserved vital characteristics. The following phenomenon lacks any scientific explanation and from the medical point of view is considered to be absolutely impossible.

Visiting the museum of Buryatia history
* The collection of the Buryatia History museum is one of the most interesting expositions of Buddhist art of the XVIII - the beginning of the XX centuries. The permanent exposition «Buddhistart» demonstrates all its versatile character, presenting Buddhist sculpture, paintings, applied art, etc. The visitors of the museum are really interested in the exhibition of the regional history.

After the lunch you will visit the village of Old-believers, their church and the local museum.
Dinner at the local residents` family.
*During your visit to the local residents` family an interesting program awaits you: visiting the museum, private residential area and enjoying delicious meals. You will be acquainted with the history of “semeyskie”, participate in the rites and ceremonies, listen to the local folk songs and watch the local fork dancing.
Returning to Ulan-Ude.
The first day of the New Year by Lunar Calendar.
After breakfast at the hotel you`ll start the whole-day excursion to the Buryat village Atsagatsk which is situated at the distance of 60 km from Ulan-Ude.
This morning you`ll get up very early and go to the top point of the mountain - the place of the worship of the ancestors and spirits by tying the ribbons or special ribbons with prayers on the trees. After the ritual Sagaal - Gan begins (the Holiday of the White Month).
Firstly the younger children visit their parents then all people go to see each other where everyone will be treated, presented and blessed. You`ll participate in all ceremonies, visit the residents` houses and so on. There will be traditional songs, dancing and, of course, the hospitable feast.
*Buryat people say: “The better you celebrate the White Month the better you live the whole year”. New Year's Eve party begins not in the midnight but in the early morning of the first day of the year. It`s very important to cook all white dishes for the holiday feast from milk because white color symbolizes well-being and happiness. In the first morning of the New Year all members of family put on the new clothes and the children greet their parents.
Returning to Ulan-Ude in the evening.
After breakfast you`ll have free time until the afternoon. So you`ll have the opportunity to have time just for yourself!
Lunch. After lunch visiting the city square where you`ll enjoy the main City New Year Tree celebration and the marvelous ice sculptures. In the evening you will visit Buryat theatre where you will have the opportunity to watch the unique show devoted to the great holiday Sagaalgan (Lunar New Year)!
After breakfast you`ll check-out and our guide will transfer you to the airport.
