Itinerary

Day 1:

Airport or railway station pick-up in Irkutsk at 12:00. Leaving for Listvyanka.

* Listvyanka, the closest to Irkutsk tourist center is famous for Baikal museum of Limnological institute with its aquariums featuring Baikal fishes and seals. Famous Shaman-rock, wrapped into a wonderful, but rather sad legend, is visible from the observation point of Cherskii stone.

In the local market you have the possibility not only to buy different kinds of souvenirs and hand-made crafts from stone, wood, glass and birch bark made by Siberian artists, but also taste cold and hot smoked Baikal fish - omul, umber and white-fish.

Accommodation at the hotel "Baikal'skie Terema"

Time to get ready for New Year party!

At 23:00 at the hotel's restaurant there will be a festive dinner table set for you! There will be the best dishes from the chief cook. You will try both European and traditional Baikal cuisine! Everyone sitting at the table will say goodbye to the old year and greet the New Year raising their glasses to it! Exactly at this time you should make your wish! The program contains new year games and contests, presents and surprises, a lot of fun and friendly atmosphere! And of course, what kind of New Year party is it , if there is no fire-works?

Day 2:

Breakfast . You have a free day today. You can have a good rest!

You can go for a walk along Baikal shore, have a look at the ice sculptures from the purest Baikal ice or have dog-sledge ride! You can also do snowmobiling or have a ride by the hovercraft on the transparent Baikal ice.

Day 3:

Breakfast

Today you will have a closer acquaintance with Baikal.

You will visit Baikal museum of Limnological institute with its aquariums featuring Baikal fishes and seals.

*It is a unique museum which exposition is devoted to the history of Baikal explorations, its fauna and flora. It features Baikal fishes, stuffed birds and animals, samples of bottom sediments and Baikal minerals and different exhibits found during the scientific expeditions. You will be amazed how beautiful and unique is the world of this sacred lake! You will also have a unique possibility to see the representatives of the underwater world making a virtual diving in bathyscaphe to the bottom of Baikal.

Famous Shaman-rock, wrapped into a wonderful, but rather sad legend, is visible from the observation point of Cherskii stone.

In the local market you can do some souvenir shopping and buy the local fish.

Day 4:

Breakfast.

Today you will have a walk in the fresh air in famous wooden architecture museum "Taltsy". Whatcanbebetter! Old buildings, wooden architecture monuments surrounded by a snowy forest will re-create the old style of living of our ancestors. Breathtaking chuting down the biggest Baikal slope and snow battle will re-charge you with energy for a long time.

*Architectural-ethnographical museum "Taltsy" is a real treasury of cultural and historical monuments of the Eastern Siberian peoples. The museum is located on the picturesque right bank of the Angara, 47 km from Irkutsk en route to Baikal. The museum features 40 historic-architectural monuments and 8000 exhibits with big historical value. The museum attracts its visitors not only with rich natural landscapes, but also with the possibility of finding out more about material and spiritual culture of Baikal peoples - the Russians, the Buryats and the Evenks.

Dinner

Day 5:

Breakfast. Today you say goodbye to Baikal, which has already become so near and dear for you!

Lunch

After lunch you will have an interesting city tour. You will see beautiful squares, parks, churches and embankments. Our guide will show you the most picturesque places of the city.

*In the downtown you will see Kirov square. Not far from this place in 1661 a Cossack detachment headed by Jacob Pokhabov founded Irkutsk ostrog (a kind of fortification). This is the main square. The first wooden buildings appeared here.

You will not miss the high stone buildings of the churches. Right behind the administrative building there is the Church of the Savior, the oldest preserved building of such a kind in Siberian and Far East region.

Behind the administrative building, on Nizhnyaya Naberezhnaya ('Lower Embankment') there is one more important monument - the memorial devoted to the Siberian soldiers fallen in the battles against the fascists during the Great Patriotic War.

Behind the Church of the Savior there is Epiphany cathedral, built in 1723. It was recently restored, and the services are conducted there. Both Orthodox churches are recognized as the architectural monuments of Russia.

You will visit the most romantic city street - the embankment of the Angara River (Gagarin boulevard). In the center of the street there is a monument to the Russian tsar Alexander III. He was the one initiating the construction of the Trans-Siberian railways. Angara embankment is a favorite strolling place for Irkutsk people and city guests. There is also a monument to Yurii Gagarin. "White House", a former mansion of a merchant K.M. Sibiryakov, nowadays is the library of Irkutsk State University. The moorish style building at the corner of Karl Marx street and Gagarin boulevard belongs to Irkutsk regional ethnographic museum. It was built in 1883 - 1891. Under the roof of the museum there are names of the scientists, who contributed greatly to the exploration of Siberia.

Day 6:

After breakfast you will say goodbye to Irkutsk and Baikal, which gave to you so many interesting adventures.
